It is that time of the year, the weather is perfect and we all want to get outdoors into the fresh air to tire out the kids. There are so many amazing cycle tracks around the UAE, some family friendly and some not so much. We decided to compile a list of the most suitable tracks to take the whole family to. So grab the kids and their favourite set of wheels, be it a bicycle, scooter or rollerblades and set out to one of these amazing places below.
Dubai
An absolute must visit with kids is Nad Al Sheeba park. The cycle track at Nad Al Sheeba park is actually old converted camel tracks, there are three different track options – 4km, 6km and 8 km. There is even a dedicated 850m course for children aged 4 to 14 that will help them learn the basis of road safety, complete with little road signs, speed bumps and mini roundabouts.
Dubai Autodrome isn’t just for cars! Each Wednesday night from 6pm to 9pm the flood lights are turned on and the gates are opened to the public. Tricycles, bicycles, rollerblades and scooters, the 2.4km track has space for everyone.
Mushrif Park is a great option for a family day out with the wheels. A 5km cycle track is just the beginning for this park, let’s face it, kids get bored fast! After their cycle, scoot or run, they can head to one of the several play areas to burn off more energy. There are also BBQ stations and even riding stables, so for just a couple of dirhams you can enjoy a full day out here.
Jumeirah Cycling Track / Open Beach Track is a shorter option of approximately 2km but it boasts beautiful views of Burj Al Arab, golden sand and the ocean.
Al Warqa’a Third Park has a 3.5km long track surrounded by beautiful green gardens that can be used for cycling, rollerblading, scooting, or just plain old walking and jogging.
Quranic Park – although you can not cycle inside the park, there is a fantastic jogging and cycling track that stretches the whole way around the park!
Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi Corniche is the capital’s famous boardwalk, this one is an easy ride with a scenic view. You can even pick up a cup of hot karak along the route!
Al Hudayriat Island is another option that has been dubbed a must do by many. The dedicated 5km and 10km cycle tracks loop around the island and give the most stunning views.
Yas Marina Circuit open their doors to cyclists and joggers twice a week, each Sunday and Tuesday evening from 6pm to midnight. Open to all ages and abilities, you can even just enjoy a leisurely walk around at sunset. There are so many more cycle tracks and paths around the UAE as they are becoming more and more popular, these are just the most child friendly ones in our experience. Enjoy!
